Heinz Hammer

University Professor Dr. Heinz Hammer is an internist and senior physician and ward director at the Medical University Clinic in Graz. He began his medical training at the Anatomical Institute of Karl-Franz University in Graz and the Internal Medicine Ward of the Hospital of the Brothers of Mercy in Graz-Eggenberg. He then continued his training at the University Clinic for Surgery and the Medical University Clinic in Graz. He acquired valuable foreign experience in internal medicine and gastroenterology in the United States at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, and the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. In addition to his specialization in internal medicine, Dr. Hammer has additional specializations in gastroenterology and hepatology and was called upon to take on further functions in this area, namely, as head of gastroenterology at Privatklinik Kastanienhof and as medical consultant for nutritional medical services at the LKH Graz. Author of many research publications, Dr. Hammer has been associate professor at Graz University of Medicine since 1997. In 2006 he was named to the FGÖ Board of Trustees.
