Helmut Mödlhammer

Born in Salzburg, Helmut Mödlhammer began his journalistic career as a writer for the Salzburger Volkszeitung while still studying journalism. In 1978 he became editor-in-chief of the Salzburger Volksblatt and then returned again to the Salzburger Volkszeitung where he was editor-in-chief from 1994 to 2004. In 1986 Mödlhammer was elected mayor of Hallwang. From 1994 to 1999 he was a member of the Salzburg provincial parliament (Landtag). In 1999 the Austrian Association of Cities and Towns elected the dedicated journalist and politician to be its president. It is in this function that he also represents the association as a member of the FGÖ Board.
