Rotraud Perner Rotraud Perner
Prof. Dr., Institute for Salutogenesis and Stress Prevention

Professor Rotraud Perner became sensitized early on to the complex interconnections between violence and mental health through her diverse professional activities. Besides having a doctorate in law, Dr. Perner is a psychoanalyst and social researcher, a former politician, a journalist, an author of several books, and head of the Institute for Stress Prophylaxis and Salutogenesis. Drawing on years of practical experience and scientific studies, she has developed methods for slowing the spiral of violence in everyday life and for promoting mental and emotional health. These methods are based on a salutogenetic life, a fact Prof. Perner knows from her many years of clinical practice. In a salutogenetic life, as she defines it, a person consciously dispenses with any trains of thought or actions that disrupt health. This approach results in loving communication both in professional settings and in one’s private life. It is a method that helps everyone, business and society as a whole, to achieve a meaningful, well-balanced and thus violence-free life. Professor Perner had this to say about her new responsibility as a member of the FGÖ Advisory Council:

"Communicating salutogenetic structures of thinking to the broad populace is imperative. I am convinced of that from the bottom of my heart. That is why I am so pleased to be able to be involved in FGÖ."
