Wolfgang Freidl
Univ.-Prof. Dr., Institute for Social Medicine and Epidemiology at the Medical University of Graz
After studying psychology and sociology in Graz, Dr. Freidl worked first in various departments of the Graz University Clinic before taking on a position in 1993 at the Institute for Social Medicine and Epidemiology. It was there that he was promoted to professorial status. In 1998 the clinical and health psychologist initiated a project on "The Role of Medicine in National Socialism in Styria". He spent 2002 in Italy doing research. His work focuses mainly on medical and health psychology, health promotion, public health, epidemiology, psychosomatics, behavioral medicine and ethics. He has been a member of the FGÖ Project Advisory Committee since the start of 2005.
"I think it is vital to put infrastructure-based health promotion projects in place to assure more justice in the health care system for socially disadvantaged or overburdened groups in society."
